I am from Durham, the home of The Can Opener Bridge. I kept trying to leave Durham (see: Enneagram 7) but was pulled back by the magnetic force of great financial aid at Duke, meeting my husband, and a series of unexpected jobs. (Around the age of 25 I realized I loved Durham and wanted to stay.) I live with my husband Nick, our 4 children, and a fish whose name we do not agree on, and my favorite place to hang out in Durham is the Duke Forest. One random fact that you should know about me is that my spiritual gift is finding the thin plastic film often left on electronics; I can spot them a mile away and if you have me over, you’ve been warned.
When I’m not in Oak Church’s Godly Play room, I love to read (mostly audiobook these days), run, and teach (currently childbirth classes and middle school Latin). If you’d like to talk about Oak Women, Godly Play, or joining forces to convince Chris to host an Oak at Jordan Lake weekend, then I’m your person.
