I am originally from Des Moines, Iowa, the home of the Iowa State Fair featuring the world’s largest cow made of butter, but my husband, our four children, and I chose to live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana because it serves the best Cajun food ever and we could celebrate the LSU Fighting Tigers year round. (Did I mention they were the National College Football Champions for 2020?) I moved to Durham in 2017 in order to be closer to family and have been here ever since. I live next door to my oldest son, his wife, and my youngest granddaughter. My favorite places to hang out in Durham are Duke Gardens, the Nasher Museum, and Cocoa Cinnamon with close friends and random strangers—anyone really who is willing to put up with me.
One random fact you should know about me is that my Master’s Thesis in English was based on the sermons of three Puritan preachers. When I’m not at Oak Church’s early morning prayer or participating in a Mustard Seed Group, you will find me reading, cooking, and playing with my granddaughter. If you’d like to talk about your spiritual growth and how to follow God more faithfully, then I’m your person. (If you just need to talk about family, job, or other life issues, I’m also your person.)
