Fr. Mike Boone passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday May 26, 2020 at his home in Bremerton, WA. He was the rector and dean of St. Charles Anglican Cathedral.
While Mike was in Durham, he was an avid early supporter of Oak Church. He believed deeply and creatively our mission in Lakewood. He shared in the calling of hope, healing, and hospitality in Christ and was so excited to see ours take shape.
Mike served us, even though he was never technically a leader or congregant of Oak Church. He helped us throw Vacation Bible Schools in the early days, helped us cook bbq, came up with the idea for the In Durham poster, and prayed countless prayers on our behalf. He’ll be missed by many— we our doubtlessly less without him. But we look forward to reuniting with him in a great Feast with Jesus to come.
